Victoria House ~ Summer Newsletter
4th of February, 2021
It has been a very hot summer, lots of very warm days. Not something that we are routinely used to in the UK. Do you recall 3rd July 1976? This was the hottest day on record in the UK with a temperature of 35.9C being recorded in Cheltenham. It was very important to keep hydrated in the warm weather to avoid heat stroke.
We are very sad to say that Frank passed away. We sent our condolences to his family.
Margery's Grandson has started working as a plumber in Nelson.
It's great to have a trade. Many people are very "hands on." There will always be work for good plumbers, builders, electricians, etc.
Joe has become the proud Great Gran-dad of a little boy! Congratulations Joe. May the little one bring a lifetime of happiness to you and your family.
Jane's family came to visit her for her birthday. All the residents sang "happy birthday" as she blew her candles out. The cake was lovely. We all wish Jane every happiness for the rest of the year.
There was a Resident's Meeting on 12th July. Keith was thanked for doing such a great job on the gardening. Suggestions for activities were a Quiz Night and a DVD afternoon. The next Resident's Meeting is scheduled for 1oth October 2018.

Mobile home, or caravan vacations, can be amazing. You can travel round wherever you want. You can gaze at the stars. Magical.
We are delighted to say that Janet is going to be a Great Grand-ma! She really doesn't look old enough! Everyone is looking forward to hearing the good news of the birth. Congratulations.

It's always good to take time out. Especially when you have been working hard. Always make some you time.
It's great to have an occasion to dress up for and to share with your friends.
Our gentlemen here are looking very dapper ~ ready to enjoy the Summer Fair.
You've got to be a brave person to "go in the stocks" and have soaked sponges thrown at you!
Did you know that the British town of Thame made international headlines in 2016 when it took up a proposal to build stocks in the town? Introduced by Councillor David Bretherton, the stocks would be used for hire and for charitable events. Councillor Bretherton said, "Perhaps for charity we could do something like get people in the stocks and have others donate money for the time they last while having their feet tickled."
What would you prefer? To have wet sponges thrown at you or your feet tickled?
