Life is for Living at Victoria House

Life is for Living at Victoria House

4th of February, 2021

In 2018 Victoria House experienced the "cycle of life." There were many high points and some sad moments.

In this edition, as we look forward to a new year, let's reflect on 2018…

Huge congratulations are in order for Sue and the Team for achieving GOOD in all areas in the recent CQC Inspection! Amazing news ~ keep up the good work.

Well done Sanam for being named as employee of the year for 2018. Brilliant work ~ thank you.

Ann, Bill, Vera and Sue went to Blackpool Illuminations. On the way they stopped off at Charlotte House. Thank you Adam for driving the mini-bus.

Ann, Jane, Margery, Vera and James enjoyed a firework display courtesy of Sue.

Thank you Sue for making this possible.

11th November 2019 marked the Centenary of the end of The Great War. The guys at Victoria House watched the Remembrance Day ceremony on T.V. and held a 2 minute silence.

"They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them."

The residents prayed the Lord's Prayer to remember residents who have gone before ~ Alf, Frank, John, Joe, Joyce.

The Christmas Fair took place on 24th November. There were stalls, a tombola, bric-a-brac. 14 relatives and friends came and £132.75 was raised for the Residents' fund. Thank you to Sue and everyone concerned.

Sue and Serena put the Christmas decorations up and Victoria House looked lovely. (Ready for Father Christmas!)

What a beautiful fireplace with Christmas stockings and elegant Christmas tree.

Some of the Residents made Christmas cards and on 9th December there was a Carol Service with the Churches in Brierfield.

A Christmas bingo was held on 13th December and there were lots of lucky winners. Sue was the caller for the night.

The Christmas Party took place on 20th December. Adam, Penny and family were there and the Residents were treated to a 5 star buffet.

There was music, dancing and lots of fun!

Christmas Day was a very grand affair. The day began with Father Christmas, presents and watching the Christmas Morning Service from Oldham Parish on the T.V.

The residents were then treated to a wonderful Christmas dinner ~ with all the trimmings.

Boxing Day was a quiet day. The lull after the hecticness of Christmas Day.

It was the perfect end to a lovely Christmas at Victoria House.

Thank you to Sue, Adam, Penny and all the staff.

In 2018 we have welcomed new residents and guests to Victoria House. It has been a pleasure to welcome James, June, Maureen, Ada, Florence and Ann.

We have also welcomed new staff and work placement people. It's been great to have Faz, Becky and Bisma on board.

We have celebrated birthdays (including Margery's in October!)

We held our Resident's Meeting on 18th October. It was noted that the food at Victoria House is 1st class and activities such as a DVD afternoon and music were discussed.

There's so much to look forward to in 2019! There's a jam packed diary of events. Just take a look.

Wishing everyone health and happiness in 2019 ~ the Chinese Year of the Pig!

Review from Homecare.co.uk - Delta Care Blackpool

My dad lives with us he is 89 years old We have had amazing care, especially from 2 particular carers. I have been in the care business either working myself or with different family members and know enough of what goes on I was not looking forward to going through the care at home again But my worries were taken away when Neil and Declan started to help with the care for dad these 2 men go above and beyond to help, my dad had a stroke taking time and patients with my dad he is back out of bed short walks to get him out in the wheelchair for short trips out to the cafe or a push along the promenade. Something my dad thought he would never do again. My dad always tells me he's very lucky to have such good carers, Delta has had good communications, and most of the time, timekeeping is good we as a family are very pleased that Delta takes care of my dad's care package and would recommend them If there was an award for carers I would put forward Neil and Declan they are amazing.
